Vincent van Gogh, a 19th-century artist, was a Dutch post-Impressionist painter who created more than 2,100 works in just a decade. Although he is considered one of the pioneers of modern art, his work went relatively unnoticed during his lifetime. Van Gogh’s use of bold colors, expressive brushstrokes and dramatic lines became the foundations of modern art.

Among his most famous works are Starry Night, Courtyard of the Hospital in Arles and Street with cypresses.

However, after his death, he became known as one of the greatest influences in Western art history. Unfortunately, Vincent van Gogh suffered from psychotic episodes and delusions, which he ignored until he finally took his own life in 1890.
